Shop Update

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Today’s store update includes a restocking of popular Bluefaced Leicester colorways (Garnet and Catamaran).

In addition,  two brand new colors are now in the store in the Moments colorway series on Foot Notes yarn.  Moments colors are inspired by the watercolor paintings and photographs of J. L. Fleckenstein.  If you have not heard of her, you should check out her blog here.  Her work is beautiful!  Each month (July is the second month) for the next year, we will be creating 2 new Foot Notes colors based on her beautiful artwork.  You can even register each month for a chance to win your choice of the new colors for the month!  This month’s colorways are Daisy Chain and Meadow.  Layer upon layer of delicate washes of color are built up to produce a complex colorway with may harmonious shades of similar hues.  Although the colors show pattern stitches in a similar way to a semi-solid color, they are significantly more complex (and lots more fun, I think!) to knit with (think handpaint).

New BFL colors & festival updates…

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

This week we’ve updated the website with a number of new faux-BATIK colors on Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) tops (roving). Check them out in either the BFL section or the What’s New section of the store. We are currently dyeing up many more colors, so look for additional colors in the next couple of weeks (we update the shop on Saturday mornings).

You may have noticed that the shop updates have been a little slow lately – this is because we are out of town a lot during the summer months, traveling to various fiber festivals. We were recently in Columbus, Ohio for the Knitters Connection. This festival is so much fun!!! It occurs immediately following the TNNA and contains many MANY classes taught by top notch designers and other fiber folks!!! For those who missed it, here are a few photos of our booth from the show. We had such a great time that I think we are going to try and double the booth size AND teach a class next year!!!

There are literally hundreds of colorways on yarns and fibers that have not been listed for the website. We are taking them around to festivals and planning on listing them at the close of the festival season once things settle down a bit. If there is something you would like, but don’t see in the store, drop me a line and I will pull it for you. Happy Knitting & Spinning!
